THE BRUNEL SHED
The Brunel Shed started in 2016, and is part of the nationwide Men's Shed organisation.
The Shed operates from the Potley & Pockeridge Community Centre, in Pockeridge Road, Corsham.
Although associated with the national Men's Shed, the Brunel Shed is open to ladies as well.
It is an active Shed and is looking to expand its activities in the future as opportunities and needs are identified.
The biggest project undertaken to date was to refurbish an old Quarry Trolley originally used to move stones from local quarries. It is now on display in front of the Springfield Centre. A second one has also now been refurbished, and a third is currently being worked on. These will be displayed locally as part of Corsham Council's plans for celebrating the towns heritage.
Activities
Our main activities currently comprise:
Woodworking projects on Mondays which have included refurbishing two sandstone quarry trolleys with a third on the way, making school playground play equipment, notice boards, flower bed planters, refurbishing park benches and much more.
Memory Shed on Wednesdays giving people with dementia opportunities to rekindle some of their old skills in woodwork, and learn new skills.
Craft Session on Thursdays currently working on glass making activities including lead, copper foil and fused glass projects, and also experimenting with other more novel glass working techniques.
